Silicon Diode Modules feature 11 and 6.5 KV blocking capability.

Product Description -
Developed to meet the high voltage blocking and high current requirements, Powerex is now offering two new high voltage silicon diode modules (QRSB165001 and QRD6565001) which complement our standard 6500V HVIGBT product offering. Each configuration features ribbon-bonded, 67mm diode elements (two per module) which provide 650A of steady-state current.

Offering an innovative corona resistant package design, these modules are constructed to provide 11KV/650A single and 6.5KV/650A half-bridge configuration while providing 12KV isolation to the baseplate.

11KV is achieved by connecting matched diodes in series. All components and interconnects are isolated from the heat sinking baseplate, offering simplified system assembly and thermal management.

Product Ratings and Characteristics -
Both the single QRSB165001, rated at 11,000V/650A, and the dual QRD6565001, rated at 6500V/650A, feature:
o high blocking voltage
o isolated baseplate
o elements matched for series operation
o high surge current rating
o same mounting height to our 6500V HVIGBT modules
o spherical convex baseplate for lowest thermal resistance

Applications -
These devices are designed for high voltage blocking applications, such as DC power supplies, pulse power, front-end converters, clamp diode for multi-level inverters, chopper diodes and laser power supplies.

Availability -
QRSB165001 can be purchased at sample pricing at $620 each. QRD6565001 can be purchased at sample pricing at $610 each. Call Powerex at 1-800-451-1415 to locate your nearest sales office. For more information on other Powerex products, log on to the Powerex web site at

Powerex was established on January 1, 1986. Powerex is the result of a combination of two pioneers in the power semiconductor industry -- the Power Semiconductor Divisions of General Electric Company and Westinghouse Electric Corporation. With the idea of advancement toward the future, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation established an equity position in Powerex. In 1994, Westinghouse sold its shares to General Electric and Mitsubishi Electric, which currently share equal ownership of Powerex. Powerex turns ideas into cost-effective products and is a leading supplier of discrete, modular and integrated high power semiconductor solutions, supporting many markets, including: AC, DC and Servo Drives (Low and Medium Voltage), Aircraft (Electro-Hydrostatic Actuators, Power Generators), Alternative Energy (Wind, Photovoltaic) and Distributed Power (Flywheel, Fuel Cell, Microturbine), Electric Vehicles, Induction Heating and Industrial Pump Controls. Powerex’s goal is to be “First in Quality” with the focus on TOTAL and CONSISTENT customer satisfaction....
