Melexis introduced the industry's smallest medical-grade sensor

Theissondelo, Belgium - Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, announced the launch of the MLX90632 FIR temperature sensor, the industry's smallest medical-grade precision sensor.The sensor, which comes in a SMD package, is suitable for wearables (especially advanced in-ear devices known as wearable devices) and clinical tests that require highly accurate measurements of body temperature.

MLX90632 is based on Melexis' leading far infrared (FIR) technology, taking advantage of the fact that all objects emit thermal radiation.Small far-infrared sensors are usually sensitive to thermal disturbance, but MLX90632 can reduce the impact of thermal disturbance through complex compensation algorithm to achieve higher thermal stability.The new medical-grade MLX90632 is optimized for the normal temperature range of the human body, achieving a medical-grade accuracy of ±0.2°C thanks to advanced factory calibration procedures.

This subcompact device is a complete solution in a 3mm x 3mm x 1mm QFN package that integrates sensor components, signal processing components, digital interfaces, and optical components into a wide range of space-constrained applications.

The medical-grade MLX90632 has a small size, high thermal stability and is optimized for body temperature, making it ideal for ultra-small health monitoring devices, such as portable diagnostic tools that continuously monitor body temperature.Continuous monitoring of vital signs is a key factor in the detection of early severe health conditions in preventive medicine practice.The sensor is also very suitable for more traditional medical equipment such as forehead heat gun or ear heat gun.
