Knowles released the AISonic series edge speech processor IA8201

Update Time: 2019-12-20 10:54:19

According to MEMS consulting, Knowles, a global supplier of advanced microacoustics, audio processing and precision equipment solutions and market leader, recently announced the latest AISonic series audio edge processor IA8201. The IA8201 provides powerful voice activation and multi-microphone audio processing and is optimized for power-sensitive applications. The processor provides powerful computing capabilities for today's most advanced consumer electronics, enabling applications such as advanced audio output, situational awareness, and gesture control.

The IA8201's main processor consumes very little power and significantly extends battery life.At the same time, it also provides more accurate understanding of live speech, and can accurately implement audio processing in the environment containing a lot of background noise.

IA8201 features include:

Multiple interface options and dual 175MHz cores, with a compact 2.6x3mm eWLB package and 6.0x6.0mm QFN package, provide voltage regulation.

It has a high computation 128-bit core (DMX), USES Knowles proprietary instruction set and Tensilica HiFi3 core (HMD).DMX is a 4-way floating point SIMD processor for better computing (e.g., beamforming, insertion, AEC), while HMD focuses on high efficiency, low power, wake up voice applications with a dual-way floating point SIMD processor.

Provides 1.4MB of large memory for various keyword models, engines, or other algorithms

Interface options include 2x I2C, 2x SPI, 2x UART and 24 GPIO, interrupt support for different sensor and data connections, plus 4x PDM input, 2xPDM output, 3x I2S/TDM(4ch input/output), support for up to four microphones and various audio connections

"More and more edge audio devices are connected, and cloud computing is becoming more and more expensive and more and more privacy issues.""Said Mike Maia, vice President of Knowles Internet of things."We want to get closer to the edge of the sensor and do more processing, like keywords."

"Its AISonic audio edge processor is capable of providing advanced multi-microphone processing with efficiencies 10 to 100 times that of general-purpose processors, helping our customers design highly competitive products that meet end-user performance and privacy requirements," said Mike Polacek, President of louiselectronic intelligent audio.
