ICs protect Li-ion rechargeable batteries

The S-8205A/B and S-8211E series of lithium-ion rechargeable battery protection ICs protect lithium-ion battery packs from overcharge, over-discharge and over-current. The S-8205A/B provides a 2 to 24-V operation voltage range, 40 µA current consumption at +25C. The S-8211E offers an operating range from 1.5 to 8 V, and a current consumption of 5.5-µA typ. At +25C.

The battery protection ICs feature a high-accuracy voltage detection circuit and a delay circuit to help monitor the status of a 1-cell (S-8211E) or 4/5-cell (S-8205A/B) lithium-ion rechargeable battery packs. (Ea/10,000: S-8205A/B, $1.64; S-8211E, $0.33 — available now.)
