FCI AirMax VS Hard Metric Connectors

FCI has expanded its AirMax VS ? product line to include Hard Metric Connectors designed to provide options for the protected receptacle to be on the backplane / midplane or on the daughter card. Options include a range of differential pairs/column, column pitches, or column counts, optimized for either 100Ω or 85Ω impedance to match channel impedance and reduce loss, halogen-free signal modules, and the availability of power and guide modules to complement the signal connector offering.

FCI AirMax VS? (Virtual Shield) Connectors are based on a unique design that eliminates the need for interleaving shields by using air as a highly efficient dielectric between conductors. The elimination of these shields reduces the connector weight, cost, and PCB routing complexity. AirMax VS gives designers the flexibility to develop their present systems for 2.5 Gb/s to 6.25 Gb/s, and the scalability to grow their systems to over 12 Gb/s without having to perform a costly redesign to the basic platform. AirMax VS connectors demonstrate exceptionally low insertion loss and crosstalk characteristics, and are available in available in both 2 and 3 mm centerlines to simplify signal routing with 3, 4, and 5 pair configurations. FCI Airmax VS Connectors are well-suited for a wide range of applications for data, communications, and industrial equipment.

FCI was acquired by Silicon Motion and became its mobile communication product line. Founded by Framatome in 1988, FCI was originally a diversified business outside the nuclear energy sector. After more than 20 acquisitions, FCI has grown to become one of the largest connector manufacturing companies after 20 years. FCI was acquired by Bain Capital in 2005. Bain Capital is a private investment fund with extensive investment experience in nearly 75 industrial and technology companies worldwide, including automotive and communications components, which has enabled Bain to become a FCI in terms of financial, international business and business development. A valuable partner.
