Corso has announced the release of two new high-power density power supplies, namely 300W and 1000W, with extended communication I/O for demanding medical and industrial applications. Adding 300W PCA300F and 1000W PCA1000F to the existing 600W PCA600F complements and extends the power series to cover a wider range of applications.PCA series with built-in extended UART(universal asynchronous transceiver) interface, support up to 83 commands, to monitor and control the entire power supply parameters.PMBus will be available in q4 2019.EN/IEC 60601-1, PCA300F and PCA1000F have 4000VAC enhanced input/output isolation and 2X patient protection (2XMOPP) grade.The PCA series provides universal input voltages from 85 to 264Vac and dc inputs from 88 to 370Vdc.The output is flexible for analog or digital control in CV or CC mode.All PCA series power supplies are built with 1U height housing and apply Corso's high density integrated packaging and optimized cooling technology.


The PCA series comes in six different output voltages, covering the entire range of applications from 5V to 48V, including 5, 12, 15, 24, 32 and 48V. All output voltages can be adjusted to near zero volts and operate in constant voltage or current mode.In addition to the main output, an independent isolated auxiliary voltage of 12V is provided, which can be adjusted in the range of 4.7-12.6v dc through digital control.

Designed for demanding applications, in line with the advantages of its predecessors, PCA600F, PCA300F and PCA1000F, the combination of constant voltage and constant current simplifies the task of designers when developing power systems requiring two modes, without adding external circuits, such as charging lead-acid batteries requiring constant current C.The charging rate is up to 90%, and the voltage is higher than that.

For greater flexibility, the PCA300F and PCA1000F include analog and digital interfaces - analog interfaces include current regulation (ITRM), voltage regulation (VTRM), remote control on/off, voltage induction, LED alarm, and current monitoring.To extend flexibility, the extended UART digital interface supports 83 monitoring commands.Operational data can be stored and locked in memory, and recorded error codes can be used to analyze and record operational time for preventive maintenance.

All parameters can be programmed and monitored through Corso's extended UART control panel GUI, which controls up to 7 units.Extending UART is a standard configuration built in, and PMBus options will be available in q4 2019.

PCA series can be easily connected in series or parallel for additional power, and the parallel redundancy mode n+1 improves system reliability and availability.

The rated operating temperature of the PCA300F and PCA1000F is -20 to +70 degrees Celsius.Cooling is achieved by an internal intelligent fan whose speed is automatically adjusted to match and work with environmental conditions.The fan can also be manually set to a maximum (fixed) speed via a digital interface.

The PCA300F and PCA1000F include surge current limitation, overcurrent protection, thermal protection and output status alarm.To be safe, their input/output isolation is 4000Vac(2MOPP) and IN/FG is 2000Vac(1MOPP).Output isolation of FG and other function pins is 500Vac.

PCA300F and PCA1000F models are certified by the institution ul62368-1, en62368-1, c-ul (equivalent to CAN/ csa-c22.2 no. 62368-1), ANSI/AAMI es60601-1, en60601-1 version 3, c-ul (equivalent to CAN/ csa-c22.2 no. 60601-1) and iec60601-1-2 version 4.The conducted noise of the PCA300 complies with FCC part 15 class B, vcci-b, cispr32-b, en55011-b, en55032-b.The PCA1000 complies with FCC part 15 class A, vcci-a, cispr32-a, en55011-a, en55032-a.The two types of harmonic attenuators conform to iec61000-3-2 (class A).

All devices are 1U high (41mm, 1.61in), including fans.The PCA300F is 152mm(5.98 inches) in length and 89mm(3.50 inches) in width, while the PCA1000F is 178mm(7.01 inches) in length and 102mm(4.02 inches) in width.The maximum weight of the PCA300F is 840g and the maximum weight of the PCA1000F is 1.2kg.

To meet the specific requirements of the application, many options are available, including coating (C), low leakage current (G), terminal block type (T), PMBus interface (I), reverse exhaust type (F2), master/slave operation (P3), and modified alarm function (W1).

The warranty period of the PCA300F and PCA1000F is five years and complies with the European RoHS directive, REACH directive, CB report and CE mark.
