Circuit protection diode targets industrial equipment CAN bus lines

ProTek Devices (Tempe, AZ) debuts a new electrostatic discharge (ESD) circuit protection diode for industrial applications such as assembly line automation, access control systems, machinery, and more. The new overvoltage protection component is the PESD2CAN. It’s designed to protect two industrial Controller Area Network (CAN) bus lines from ESD and other electrical fast transients (EFT). Features include:

• ESD protection is > 25 kilovolts.
• Compatibility with IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air 15kV, contact 8kV; with 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A, 5/50ns; and with 61000-4-5 (surge): 4A, 8/20 micro seconds.
• 200 watts of peak pulse power per line (typical = 8/20 micro seconds).
