2 x 2 crosspoint switch is first to 14 Gbits/s

The GX4002 2 x 2 crosspoint switch is said to be the industry’s first such device supporting data rates of 14 Gbits/s per port. It also integrates a CDR, providing a single-chip solution for high-speed signal integrity requirements of next-generation networks.

The chip provides an output jitter of just 7 ps, peak-to-peak, and has the speed, bandwidth, and signal integrity required to support network equipment based on standards like 10-Gbit/s SONET (OC-192), 10-Gbit/s Ethernet, 16-Gbit/s Fibre Channel, and Infiniband. In redundancy-switching applications, an alternative traffic path can be switched over and operational within 100 µs for OC-192/OTU2 data rates. ($19.15 ea/1,000 — available 1st qtr 2011.)

Gennum Corporation designs innovative semiconductor solutions and intellectual property (IP) cores to serve the rising global demand for high-speed data transmission products in the broadcast, networking, storage and telecommunications markets.

Previous: Provide four times faster transmission speeds than standard wireless
