The Barracuda XT (ST32000641AS) 7,200-rpm hard-disk drive features 2-Tbyte capacity and is the first 3.5-in. high-capacity drive to have a superfast 6-Gbit/s SATA interface. The device’s average latency is 4.16 ms.

A 64-Mbyte cache optimizes the drives burst performance. It has a 138-Mbyte/s sustained data rate and 600-Mbyte/s max transfer rate. The drive’s MTBF is 750,000 hours and average idle power is 6.4 W. ($299 — available now.)
