Manufacturer Introduction

ATI Technologies Inc. was a semiconductor technology corporation based in Markham, Ontario, Canada, that specialized in the development of graphics processing units and chipsets.

Founded in 1985 as Array Technologies Industry, the company was listed publicly in 1993 and was acquired by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in 2006. As a major fabrication-less or fabless semiconductor company, ATI conducted research and development in-house and outsourced the manufacturing and assembly of its products. ATI and its chief rival Nvidia emerged as the two dominant players in the graphics processors industry, eventually forcing other manufacturers into niche roles.

The acquisition of ATI in 2006 was important to AMD's strategic development of its Fusion generation of computer processors, which integrated general processing abilities with graphics processing functions within a single chip. Since 2010, the ATI brand name is no longer used for any of AMD's graphics processor products.

Their company was founded as Air Tools, Inc. in 1967 by Robert A. Rusch, Sr., a seasoned field engineer and sales professional. After acquiring the Chicago Pneumatic product line, the company began working with industrial plants in the Louisville, Ky., area. They started operating under a simple premise: Be good to people, and they will be good to you.

Since establishing theirselves and their initial brand, ATI Technologies has enjoyed steady growth, assembling a comprehensive team of uniquely qualified and experienced individuals. We strive to be the preeminent experts in the industry by supplying their customers with unparalleled service and support.

In 2008, upon moving into their new, modern facility, we began operating under the name ATI Technologies to more appropriately identify their core business. They wanted to rebrand and reintroduce theirselves since their business evolved from simply providing pneumatic power tools to offering sophisticated electronic assembly tools and other modern technologies as well.
